Welcome to the first episode of The Ways We Move, the podcast that explores everything and anything that moves us on this incredible planet of ours. See here for the video.

My name is Nicolas Zart, and I’m thrilled to take you on this journey into the world of mobility and transportation. But before diving into what we’ll uncover together, let me tell you a little about myself.

For nearly 20 years, I’ve been immersed in the electric mobility industry as a consultant and journalist. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing—and often reporting on—the evolution of this industry from its earliest days. From covering the first electric cars we now call EVs to explore the electric aviation revolution now known as Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), I’ve seen the future of mobility take shape.

My journey into this fascinating world began in 2007, when I was invited to contribute to several outlets, eventually making my way into international print magazines. By 2014, I found myself at the forefront of another revolution—this time in the skies—when I witnessed Dufour Aerospace fly an aerobatic plane powered by Siemens’ electric drivetrain. It was a pivotal moment, one that inspired me to focus on electric aviation and infrastructure. Back then, we didn’t have terms like AAM; we spoke of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and Urban Air Mobility (UAM).

Fast forward to today, and AAM has evolved from a dream into a burgeoning industry. With NASA coining the term AAM and Uber Elevate providing an early blueprint, the vision of electric flight has matured significantly. Now, we’re on the cusp of an international paradigm and it's a cliche to say a once-in-a-lifetime revolution as aerospace governing bodies finalize certifications to bring these groundbreaking technologies to life.

But this podcast isn’t just about what’s happening in the skies. We’ll explore the entire spectrum of electric mobility and transportation—on land, sea, and air. While EVs have become part of our daily lives, the next wave of innovation includes eVTOLs, eSTOLs, and eCTOLs, alongside advancements in electric railways and the electrification of the maritime industry. The way we move is undergoing a fundamental transformation, and this podcast will bring you stories, insights, and ideas from the people driving that change.

The Ways We Move will feature a mix of episode formats:

  • 10-minute episodes to deliver thought-provoking, big-picture ideas.
  • 20-minute interviews for engaging conversations with industry leaders and innovators.
  • Hour-long deep dives to explore the intricate details shaping the future of mobility.

So, welcome aboard! We’re excited to share thought-provoking ideas, captivating interviews, and in-depth explorations of the ways we move. Let us know what moves you, and stay tuned for weekly episodes that promise to inspire and inform.
